Welcome to My Corner of the Internet

After years of telling myself "I should start a blog," I've finally done it. Welcome to my little corner of the internet.

Why Now?

I've spent over two decades in technology leadership, primarily in the construction industry. Along the way, I've accumulated experiences, lessons learned, and perspectives that I've often wished I had written down. Conversations with colleagues, mentors, and team members have reinforced the idea that some of these stories might be worth sharing.

So here we are.

What to Expect

This blog will be a mix of professional and personal topics. You'll find posts about:

  • Technology leadership — lessons from running IT operations, building teams, and navigating the ever-changing technology landscape
  • Construction technology — how digital tools are transforming an industry that has traditionally been slow to adopt new ways of working
  • Leadership and team development — what I've learned (often the hard way) about leading people and organizations
  • Personal reflections — thoughts on faith, family, service, and the things that matter most outside of work

I'm not trying to position myself as an expert with all the answers. I'm just someone who has been fortunate to have interesting experiences and thoughtful people around me. If something I write resonates with you or sparks a useful thought, that's more than enough.

A Note on How This Started

In the spirit of transparency, I want to share how this blog came together. The initial posts you'll find here were crafted with the help of Claude, Anthropic's AI assistant, using material I provided — notes, career highlights, and stories I've told over the years. I then reviewed and edited each post to make sure they accurately reflected my voice and experiences.

I think there's something fitting about using AI to help launch a technology leader's blog. It's a practical example of how these tools can augment human creativity rather than replace it. Claude helped me get past the blank page problem and organize my thoughts, but the stories, perspectives, and lessons are mine.

Going forward, I expect this blog to be a mix of AI-assisted drafting and purely human writing, depending on the topic and my available time. I'll continue to be transparent about the process.

In an upcoming post, I'll share the full story of how I used Claude Code to build not just the blog content, but this entire website from the ground up. It's been a fascinating experience that has shaped my thinking about AI as a development tool.
